Top 5 Things we Want in Ubuntu
Lifehacker posted a great article on what Ubuntu really needs to go from being a good operating system to a great one. Some, like better access to new applications, are right around the corner. Others, like integrated virtualization and what they called “right-brained rethinking” are sorely needed.
One thing not mentioned, but clearly evident from the posts following the article, is simple knowledge of Linux and what’s available for it. A few posters noted things like “I’d like Ubuntu if it did x” and respondents occasionally replied “it does…use this”. Ubergeeks may call this ignorance or laziness, but for the average end user this remains a big problem.
The article itself is a good read, as are the responses. Check it out.
