Act Early to get Windows 7 at 1/2 Off Retail

First it was only students who could take advantage of superior Windows 7 prices.  Now computer superstore Newegg.com is offering the OEM versions of Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate for a limited time at about 50% of the retail price.  For example, the full version of Home Premium is $100 right now on Newegg, which has a MSRP of $200.  This is a tremendous savings for users but the prices are only in effect until 10/20/09.

OEM software is sold primarily to corporate and home PC builders, which means that it lacks the fancy packaging and some support features, and is not transferable to another PC.  However these are very minor issues and should not stop anyone from taking advantage of this bargain.

Newegg.com also notes that those who purchase Windows Vista will receive a coupon for a free version of Windows 7 when released.  This actually may be a cheaper option for some, as the 64-bit version of Vista Home Premium is listed at $89 with the free upgrade – which saves you another $10 over purchasing just 7 Home Premium.
